It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas: more cow ornaments

I have a special Christmas tradition. Every year, I look for a new ornament to add to our Christmas tree. Sometimes the ornament relates to something that happened during the year, or how I feel about the year in general. Other times I pick an ornament I like as soon as I see it.

This year, my kids picked two new ornaments, a snowflake and a snowman. We went shopping for them together at Target and while we browsed the Christmas tree ornament aisle, I spotted not one but two cow ornaments.

This first cow ornament was already at Target last year. It must have been such a success, it’s back this year and it brought some pigs with it! Check out these cow and pig angel ornaments. You’ve got to love the golden wings and crowns.

The second cow ornament is similar to the one cow ornament I already have. Mine is an ice skating cow and this new one is skiing. I guess skiing is back in style because it’s the second skiing cow I’m spotting this year. I think we should start a new saying. Instead of when pigs fly, let’s try when cows ski!

By the way, Amazon has tons of cow ornaments if you’re looking for some to decorate your Christmas tree this year.

It’s another cow LED keyring!

I stopped by my local Michael’s art & craft store this weekend to look for a specific art supply (Liquid Rainbow window paint to do crafts like these). The Liquid Rainbow website told me Michael’s carried their line, but apparently not the window paint, so I left empty handed. But not before I saw a cow there. Actually, it was not one but several cows, and several pigs were keeping them company. Check out these cute pig and cow LED keyrings:

Here’s a close-up of the cow, and it really moos!

I wonder what would happen if you had one of these in your purse and you pressed the button by mistake by standing in the checkout line of a store… By the way, if you like this very cute LED cow keyring, you can buy it on Amazon.

Is Target trying to compete with Pillow Pets?

If you don’t know what Pillow Pets are, look on Amazon and you’ll find quite a lot of them there. You should also read my cow post on Pillow Pets.

I stopped by Target a few days ago with my kids, with the goal of buying a few grocery staples. Of course, we can’t go to Target just to buy food, so we had to make a pit stop by the toy department and see what was new. Apparently, a lot. At least that’s what my boys said.

But I myself found something new too. Target’s homemade version of Pillow Pets. Look how cute this cow is!

I have never seen such flat udders though. Poor cow…

Target has a number of other animal pillows, including a sheep, a bear, and of course a pig. A very pink pig.

This poor little guy fell off the hook. I guess he was waiting for someone like me to rescue him.

Do you have a Pillow Pets, by the way? They look pretty comfy.

Cow on a bike

I recently borrowed the hilarious children’s book Duck on a Bike by David Shannon from the library.

Would you expect to see a cow in this book? Well, there’s only one but it appears on several pages and makes quite a lot of funny faces worth sharing.

In this book, Duck tries a child’s bike and the farm animals all think it doesn’t look like a good way to have fun. Here’s Cow’s reaction as Duck rolls by her: “A duck on a bike? That’s the silliest thing I’ve ever seen!”

By the time Duck has paraded in front of all the animals, a group of kids on bikes arrives the farm. The kids leave their bikes by the barn and suddenly, the farm animals get an idea. Can you guess what it is?

Have you ever seen a cow and a horse with bigger eyes?

Are you ready for the grand finale? Here’s how you can entertain farm animals with a bunch of bikes. I present you cow on a bike. And horse on a bike, goat on a bike, pig on a bike… I think they’re ready for the circus.

The cow talking bag clip

Have you every noticed the first section you see when you walk into a Bed, Bath and Beyond store is the “Beyond”, that is, the kitchen? You actually have to go two thirds around the store to get to the Bed section and almost a full round to reach the Bath section. I wonder if someone in corporate ever thought about that one.

I can’t remember the last time I walked into a Bed, Bath and Beyond store but I finally did, in search of a cherry pitter. They only had one model on display in the Kitchen section, so I performed a kick loop around the area to see if I could find another one before making my final choice. I didn’t find any other but I found a few cow items along the way.

The first one is a cow talking bag clip. It actually moos when you press on the cow’s head. And look, they also have a pig talking bag clip that oinks. How cute!

The second cow sighting was a set of cutting boards from Casabella. Each set has a different drawing on it: a cow, a carrot, a chicken and a fish. I doubt the cutting board is big enough to slice a whole cow!
