How about some Midnight Moo?

I went to Trader Joe’s yesterday and there are always plenty of cows waiting for me there. I just have to be careful taking pictures of them since Trader Joe’s has a no-picture policy and I’ve been warned before. Of course, it doesn’t help that my phone camera makes a very loud shutter sound every time I snap a picture. If I want to turn it off, I have to turn all sounds off and then I have no idea if someone is calling me. Thank you, LG. You really know how help your phone users be sneaky…

I managed to see a new cow during my latest Trader Joe’s visit. I’m sure it’s not a new product but since I don’t buy chocolate syrup, I’ve never noticed it before. I did yesterday though, as a whole bunch of bottles were sitting on an aisle’s end cap.

I present you Trader Joe’s organic Midnight Moo chocolate syrup. Doesn’t this make you want to buy some? You know you can’t go wrong when the cow is jumping over the moon.

Can a cow jump over the moon? I think so!

If you think a cow can’t really jump over the moon, I’m about to prove you wrong. And for this I have to thank Tilly at The Laughing Housewife and her weekly CoWAbunger. This is the photo she chose for this week’s award, which is quite appropriate for a post on astronauts (by the way, congratulations for your third award, Pseu!):

For every cow out there who dreams of jumping over the moon, this is exactly what you need. Why don’t you ask Father Christmoos for it, and let’s see what he can do for you?

Maybe cows just like to have a drink

Just a few days ago I found a cow that clearly looked under the influence – not a great example for a kid-oriented product like sight word flashcards.

Today Tilly Bud at The Laughing Housewife chose a cow for her CoWAbunger weekly award that makes me think cows may just like to have a drink once in a while. Here’s her award pick for one of her lucky blog post commenters:

Wow cow! Who said Wisconsin was a boring state? They have quite a sense of humor over there!

And if you think this is the only shot glass in the world with a cow on it, then think again. I found this beautiful “cow jumping over the moon” shot glass on Amazon. Cheers!

The cow jumping over the moon – an inspiration for reading

While picking up some new books at the library, I noticed a number of posters on the wall. They appear to be the result of a contest the library recently ran for school-age children. From what I could make out, kids had to create a poster that would represent reading and what it means to them. I love to see what kids come up with, especially when it has to do with their reading experience and journey. One of the posters I noticed right away was this one (sorry about the glare):

Ah, Goodnight Moon, by Margaret Wise Brown… Such a simple book, and yet so many parents and children love it. Definitely the perfect gift for any newborn baby (diapers are nice too).

I like to see the girl put herself into the book since that’s exactly what books do for us – draw us into their story. The only issue I have with this poster is the cow jumping over the moon. Or rather the crescent moon under the cow, particularly its placement and angle. Don’t think of me as a pervert (please don’t), but I find this a little disturbing…

At least the original illustration in Goodnight Moon doesn’t show the moon at this angle (yes, I did check!). So children and parents, rejoice and keep reading!

When cows fly

Today I took my youngest to SeaWorld while his brother attended a classmate’s birthday party. While at SeaWorld I got a chance to pet a young wallaby (yes, apparently they have wallabies at marine parks), pet a dolphin (yeah!), and enjoy the Pets Rule show, where there’s a cow head on the large bottle of milk.

Well, by not being the one to take my oldest to the birthday party, this is what I missed:

Flying cow - cow with wings

Flying cow - cow with wings

Yes, it’s a flying cow, with huge wings! Look how cute it is sideways:

It's a flying cow

It's a flying cow

And if you think it just looks like it could fly, think again. With large wings and double AA batteries, it’s a flying wonder. Now I finally understand how the cow managed to jump over the moon. Take a look at the flying cow in action:

All you do at home is attach a string from the ceiling to the cow and you get to see a cow flying around and around. Wow cow! Can you believe I missed this???

Next time someone says, “when pigs fly”, just reply, “no, when cows fly”, and you’ll know you’ve just increased your probability rate.
