Is Target trying to compete with Pillow Pets?

If you don’t know what Pillow Pets are, look on Amazon and you’ll find quite a lot of them there. You should also read my cow post on Pillow Pets.

I stopped by Target a few days ago with my kids, with the goal of buying a few grocery staples. Of course, we can’t go to Target just to buy food, so we had to make a pit stop by the toy department and see what was new. Apparently, a lot. At least that’s what my boys said.

But I myself found something new too. Target’s homemade version of Pillow Pets. Look how cute this cow is!

I have never seen such flat udders though. Poor cow…

Target has a number of other animal pillows, including a sheep, a bear, and of course a pig. A very pink pig.

This poor little guy fell off the hook. I guess he was waiting for someone like me to rescue him.

Do you have a Pillow Pets, by the way? They look pretty comfy.

This little piggy meets a cow

We just borrowed a whole bunch of children’s books from our local library and one of them is called This Little Piggy’s Book of Manners by Kathryn Madeline Allen.

Looking at the cover, would you guess there’s a cow in this book? Alright, I wouldn’t either but that’s why they say you can’t judge a book by its cover. This book is about learning the difference between good and bad manners, using the example of two little piggies who tend to behave quite differently.

A cow appears on two different pages in this book, and unfortunately it’s associated with the misbehaving little piggy every time. If you’ve never seen a cow driving a car, now is your chance. Don’t blink!

And look at this pig, eating like… well, like a pig. The poor cow is utterly disgusted.

A cow and a pig on the Vermont State police car decals

I read an interesting story on the Facebook NPR newsfeed today. Apparently it’s not just the Disney illustrators who like to include hidden images in the movies and illustrations they make. Vermont State inmates have had their opportunity to manipulate computer images and modify the Vermont State police car decals.

Take a look at the cow on the badge below and look at its hide pattern. Can you spot the pig (apparently an offensive name used to describe a police officer)?

I have to say, I’m a little more disturbed by the three yellow shapes on the left. I guess they’re supposed to be haystacks. Maybe it’s my crooked mind but they remind me of something else a little more masculine…

I also wanted to share the cow my husband spotted at a farmer’s market on a San Diego beach boardwalk this morning. “Hay”, did you see a cow today?

Cows at the beach… and I thought I’d seen it all by now.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas #9: the immooculate conception, my best find of the year

If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you know about my theory. Not just my “daily cow” theory, but also the one on cows and pigs being best friends, as they tend to show up in a lot of places together.

Today I found out they may have been more than friends the whole time (naughty…). It makes sense if you think about it. Pig meets cow, cow falls in love with pig, pig and cow have… a baby?

Let me step back a minute as this reminds me of a previous post on the Leapfrog Fridge Farm Magnetic Animal Set, where I showed you how to make a cow pig. But in this case, you can clearly see this is a half-cow, half pig animal.

Today I found what has to be the result of an immooculate conception™, simply because there’s no other way to explain it. Here’s what I found in the Christmas tree ornament aisle at Target (next to my skating cow ornament for sale):

Did you guess what this is? Target says it’s a … drum roll… pig cow! I swear I’m not making this up. Look at the price tag:

Did you notice the cow has a snout rather than a muzzle? And it has quite a round body shape too.

If you look closely at this pig cow (and its price tag), you’ll notice the cow has wings. So technically, this animal is not just a pig cow, it’s a chicken pig cow! A threesome. Naughty, naughty…

Isn’t this my best cow spotting of the year? Who said there’s no such thing as Christmas miracles?

Can a cow really bounce and giggle?

Cows (and pigs) are very popular animals when it comes to baby toys, baby clothes, baby decor and baby books. And this fascination with cows doesn’t stop at babies as it extends into the children’s entertainment world, but it does start at the baby stage.

As I logged on Facebook tonight to post a photo of my five year old being promoting to blue belt at karate, I noticed someone had just posted something on my wall. A friend of mine happened to have seen a photo of a toy for sale on a Facebook page and decided to share it with me. It’s called the Fisher Price Bounce & Giggle Cow!

This cow toy bounces and giggles and apparently makes little babies giggle too. Look at it, how can you resist this cute little face?

Of course, Fisher Price makes a bounce & giggle pig to keep this cow company:

And if you’re looking for something a little more exotic, there’s also the Fisher Price bounce & giggle elephant.

By the way, are these diapers they’re wearing???
