Is Target catching on to the “daily cow” concept?

I stopped at my local Target this afternoon to restock on a few cleaning supplies and milk for the family. Do you know that a Target brand gallon of 1% milk used to be $2.69 just a few weeks ago? It then went up to $2.88. Today, it was $3.22!!! Excuse me but I thought gas was going up 20 cents a week, not milk! The cheapest gas I can find here is $4.09 a gallon, so I’m starting to wonder if the milk and gas prices will continue creeping up side by side for the next few months. Will we ever end up paying more for milk than we pay for gas? What a crazy world we live in…

Getting back to Target, this is what caught my eye today in the dairy aisle, right above the ice cream:

Target Spot the dog and the daily cow!

How cool is that? Is Target finally catching on to the daily cow concept, hoping people will buy more ice cream thanks to the presence of a friendly cow? All I can say is Spot the dog looks VERY happy with his new friend. Check out his ear-to-ear smile:

Is this a match made in heaven? Target obviously thinks so, daring to subtitle the happy couple “Together for a sweet cause”. Indeed it was a sweet surprise to spot this new display today. Thanks, Target! Now, can you please take it easy on those milk prices?

  1. All the prices are going up! It’s just insanity…All I can guess is that it’s because they have to transport everything by diesel trucks and since gas is going up, prices have to be raised to compensate. Almost makes you want to start a farm of your own and milk your own cow! Well….almost….I’m not quite there but maybe soon…..

    • Yep, the oil companies love to set the trend for everyone. They jack up their prices for any (really, any) reason, and everybody else follows up like innocent lambs. If you’re thinking of buying a cow, you’d better do it now before it costs its weight in gold!

  2. Cute pics! The prices really are crazy though. We haven’t hite $4/gal for gas here yet but I’m having a difficult time finding milk for less than $3.95 :(
