This may be the most shocking cow spotting of the year!

I could show you the few cows I spotted in the books I read to my kids today. Or the one that made a shameless appearance in an Elmo video this afternoon. Or the Playmobil cows that stand (or sometimes lay on their side if an earthquake has struck our living room) on our coffee table every day. But you’ll see none of the sort today. Why? Because I have much, much better to show you. It’s so good, I don’t even think I’ll be able to top it off by the end of this year. Yes, it’s that good. It’s going to be legen…wait for it… dary (or dairy?). Sorry, I am an How I Met Your Mother fan after all.

Let me take a break and remind you that I live in Southern California, just east of San Diego. I think I can count our local dairy farms on the fingers of one hand. If I want to see real cows, I need to drive to the countryside or the mountains, at least a half hour away from my house. So when something like this shows up in my town as it did today, I find it shocking amazing baffling:

Bull shipper car with longhorns on hood

What the heck is that??? Longhorns mounted on a car hood? Did I just get transported to Texas? And before you tell me that I have stereotypes about Texas, know that I’ve been to Texas several times. I even drove all the way from Houston back to San Diego the week of September 11, 2001, when all flights were grounded for days. Driving 750 miles from Houston to El Paso, I did spot a few of those longhorns on car and pick-up truck hoods. So yeah, the Texas analogy sounds about right.

Now, if you’re impressed with the front of the car, wait till you see the back. And no, I never saw such thing in Texas – this is sooooo Southern California:

I’m sorry but these exhaust pipes leave me speechless. At a loss for words, I’ll leave it at that so you can enjoy the pictures a little longer…

  1. Nope…I live in Texas and have all my life but I will NOT say that’s stereotypical….I will say I haven’t personally seen any horns THAT big on a car but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any out there. As for the exhaust pipes….dang! That’s a first all around for me!

  2. Now what does all that suggest to you about the person who owns the car? Hmmm…

  3. Wow, awesome spotting! One must have excellent timing and good luck to find such a treasure ;) I spend a lot of time on the road and am still amazed by things people intentionally do to their vehicles!

  4. That is AWESOME!!!!!
