Cows and the Iowa Caucuses

If you live in the U.S., you’ve recently been bombarded with the political news about the Iowa caucuses. Coming from France and after leaving here for almost 20 years, I still don’t see the point of maintaining the voting process using caucuses in the days of television and the internet. Political candidates don’t need two years of campaigning around the U.S. to make themselves known. And just imagine how much campaign money would be saved if this caucus process was eliminated. But I digress.

Today my husband posted a link to a funny video on YouTube about Iowa. He posted the uncensored version, so I’ll show you the bleeped out version not to offend anyone. This very funny video shows you what Iowa is about and knocks down every cliche about the state.

What is the one thing I know about Iowa? The Butter Cow Lady, Norma Lyons, who sculpted for many years at the Iowa State Fair. And this means you can’t watch a video about Iowa without seeing a cow. Here it is, 30 seconds into it:

Iowa nice video with a cow

Now, what I want to know is, why is there a fake cow in the background? Don’t they have real cows in Iowa? They clearly hired a city guy who doesn’t want to get his shoes dirty!

Here’s the whole video for you. I hear it’s quite popular right now. Enjoy!
