How do moose decorate their home? With cows, of course

On the eve of Thanksgiving Day, what’s not to like about a book called “A turkey for Thanksgiving” by Eve Bunting?

My kids and I have been reading this book for the past few days, and even though the element of surprise is gone after the first read, we’re still having a good time. You see, Mrs Moose asks Mr Moose to get her a turkey for Thanksgiving, because everybody else has one for the occasion but they never do. This is a last minute request so Mr Moose promptly goes on a mission to locate a turkey and bring it back home in time for Thanksgiving dinner. The poor turkey tries to get away in vain and agonizes about his fate all the way back home. But the real surprise happens when Mrs Moose wants the turkey to be one of her guests and sit at the table, not on it.

Take a look at Mr Moose walking into the house with the turkey (that turkey’s face is priceless!):

Did you see the cow decoration on the wall behind Mrs Moose’s head? Who knew cows were also popular in Mooseland? Maybe having a cow on your wall is a sign of good luck there. What do you think?
